In 1993, Hanna-Barbera released SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, an animated action show taking place in the world of Megakat City. It was based on characters created by Christian and Yvonne Tremblay. Despite early cancellation in its second season, the series remains popular with an active fanbase. In the United States it can occasionally be found in syndication on the Boomerang Cable Network.

The Turbokat is a multi-role air superiority fighter. Constructed from the parts of salvaged aircraft and designed by genius Jake Clawson/Razor, and flown by ace pilot Chance Furlong/T-Bone, it is consistently shown to be the most advanced aircraft in Megakat City and one of the single most advanced pieces of technology in the show. It is the primary weapon and mode of transportation for the SWAT Kats. The Origin of Dr. Viper / Today's Featured Episode / May 23, 2013

Dr. Zyme and his partner Dr. Elrod Purvis co-develop Viper Mutagen 368. While attempting to steal the chemical, Purvis spills it on himself and seems to die, but the flawed formula causes him to revive as Dr. Viper.
