Praxus, Donavan (Dark Fang)
In Allies
At night though, he dawns a different choice of attire to become his sleuthing alter-ego, “Dark Fang.” A tight-fitting black formal chinese jacket, gloves, pants, socks, and sneaking tabi; however, the most distinct feature of the outfit is Dark Fang’s mask. A pure-black face with no visible eye-holes, the mask keeps his face a total mystery and allows him to flawlessly resemble a shadow.
Physical-Description
Donovan Praxus is a lithe, well-dressed, Russian Blue feline. He is usually seen wearing a blue business suit with a jet black tie. His eyes are a deep and observant, almost black, shade of brown. He also has long black hair, which he keeps tied back in a pony-tail.
The clothing is deceiving though, as a toned body is hidden underneath. He is taut with lean muscle, but still thin enough to be dexterous and notably flexible.
While his suit is the norm for him, Donovan will change his attire to match the situation if he has time to slip into a closet.
The only unusual matter of Dark Fang’s description is how Donovan has decided to handle his hair, by braiding it and incorporating a large circular weight (3 inch radius) with a hole in the center (3/4th’s inch diameter), which can be used as a weapon if need be.
Personality-Traits
Donovan is eccentric to say the least. He is generally very quiet but he is polite and usually yields sagely words of wisdom when given the chance. He appears to be the type to “speak only when necessary,” and observe at all times. This tends to lead many to think that he’s not paying attention, daydreaming, or secluded to his thoughts. Because of this, he’s often described as “Spacey.”
One subject that will get him going though is the arts. Any sort of art. Musical, literary, visual, martial, any is an interest to him.
Other than that, he is extremely kind and willing to lend assistance whenever he can and however he can, as long as it is within the law and his ability to do so.
Whenever that isn’t the case though, he tends to use his other identity, the Dark Fang, as his means of helping. Dark Fang is typically not bound by the law, but attempts to work in its favor when possible. This usually involves the uncovering of otherwise difficult to find clues as to the whereabouts of criminals, or direct involvement, such as capturing nefarious individuals; however, he prefers to stay on the sidelines instead of risking being caught by either the villains or enforcers. Sometimes though, he has to directly break the law to do a greater good, whether it involves stealing or espionage. He has a motto though, which is that he never kills unless he finds it absolutely, undoubtedly, necessary.
Abilities
Donovan usually likes to analyze all situations as himself before uncovering whatever cannot be seen as Dark Fang. He’ll research whatever he can safely before he has to assume a disguise or do something extraordinary.
The education he has received has been from numerous sources and forms of experience. His earliest jobs during middle-school and high-school had him act as a repairman and automobile mechanic (or an assistant in his early years). He studied several computer courses during High-school, developing a minor knack for hacking small systems; however, in college, he developed a love of the arts and took up classes in illustration and business to become a museum curator.
Perhaps the most notable experience he had though, was training since a very young age in martial arts. His teacher being an enforcer who had helped train recruits in the basic forms of defense. It was also from these same classes that Donovan developed a sense of acrobatics and stealth. He is proficient in Shaolin Kung-Fu, knife-fighting, sword-fighting (Jian and Broadsword), staff, and Arnis; however, though he prefers to never use weapons, he usually keeps an extendable baton on him when acting as Dark Fang.
He still practices all of these skills in extremely covert and unassuming ways. He practices being a repairman on his own car and appliances (they are hand-me-downs from his family), and continues to ritually practice martial arts in order to maintain his sharp speed and defensive abilities.
His art knowledge is a front however, which he uses to help maintain the museum of art and gain connections in the higher-up members of the city’s society.
As Dark Fang though, he is not afraid to hone his abilities as a hacker, using public computers to access databases and quickly gain or leave helpful information. It’s a skill he is still not perfect at though, so he usually relies on others to provide him information; however, the general knowledge he has can be useful. Beyond his hacking capabilities though, Dark Fang is not afraid to test his martial arts and turn them into martial application, though he likes to keep his encounters minimal and quick, depending more on stealth than tail-kicking power.
Dark Fang is entirely mortal though. He has no special powers. All he can rely on is his training and experience, which, at best, lend him only unusual or extraordinary fighting and infiltration abilities.
Relationships
Donovan’s parents passed away early on in his college years after they got into a car accident. His other relatives live outside of Megakat city, seeing it as a dangerous (though potentially prosperous) place to live.
His kung-fu master has closed down the dojo he once trained at, though they still keep in touch now and again in a casual and friendly relationship.
Donovan’s only real relationships are the associates he has at the museum of art, whom he keeps at a distance as a means of protecting them from the knowledge that he is Dark Fang.
Past-History
Donovan Praxus was the only child of a moderately wealthy pair of business individuals. His mother, Martha, was a computer analyst with a love of art, while Ranald, his father, was a computer programmer and former detective for the enforcers.
Ranald introduced Donovan to Dai Zhou at the early age of 10, starting Donovan’s training in the martial arts.
During his middle-school years, Donovan assisted his father in tuning up old cars on the weekends and fixing the house; experiences that eventually allowed him to get a part time job as a mechanic and repairman during his high-school years.
Before Donovan graduated high-school, Dai Zhou closed down the dojo (from a lack of students), but continued to train the young feline before he left for college. Sadly, shortly after arriving on the art-school’s campus, Donovan got news of the car accident his parents had gotten into. Despite his depression, he continued and finished his studies. With the inheritance from his parents, he was able to support himself and begin a normal life with a job at the Megakat city art museum.
One day though, one of the precious works of art was stolen. None of the law-enforcement could find any clues to recover it. Donovan followed rumors and hacked into a secret computer network through which members of several criminal syndicates were bidding on the work of art. He later intercepted the delivery, under the quickly devised guise of Dark Fang, and stole the piece of art back.
Since then, he has been investigating cases that seem to elude most detectives, usually going after the one with the strangest details or circumstances.
One particular case he has had his eye on though continues to elude even him. “Just who are the SWAT KATS?”
Current-Whereabouts
Donovan Praxus currently works as an assistant curator at the Megakat Museum of Art, acting mostly as public relations and handling special guests or attendees at the exhibits.
