This is usually what is thought of when referred to a purpose designed sniper rifle where a foremost goal is long range accuracy (1000 -1500 m) as opposed to volume of fire. This is usually the type of sniper rifle employed by true snipers as well as police snipers.
The dayscope is mounted with Badger Ordnance Maximum scope rings, with a standard ring in the rear and a wider MAX50-brand ring in front, to allow for the mounting of a Badger Ordnance ringcap (enabling the mounting of SIMRAD add-on night vision devices). (wiki)
The M40′s heavy firepower and long distance accuracy make it the weapon of choice for target or sniper shooting. Currently only Agent Joseph Forge is officially certified for the use of the M40 during tactical situations. Due to its bolt-action chambering and telescopic scope, this weapon is difficult to use and untrained agents are denied access.
