The agents of the Megakat Bureau of Investigation are trained to handle a wide-variety of mission criteria geared towards serving the public interest. The MBI monitors criminal activity within Megakat City and the surrounding region, specializing in anti-terrorism and anti-organized crime response.
The agents of the MBI are required to remain in peak mental and physical condition, with regular combat training sessions and educational retreats with other law enforcement agencies to keep up to date with the latest methods and information regarding criminal activities.
Agents are required to meet performance standards, able to run one mile in 4 minutes and be proficient in hand-to-hand and firearm combat. Basic survival training and negotiation skills are also trained in regularly.
Types of Personnel:
- Director: This is the top position of the bureau, and only occupied by one individual. The Director represents the MBI in administrative affairs and keeps regular contact with the Deputy Mayor. The Director also holds a position on the Megakat City Council and contributes to making city policy. Bureau budgeting, disciplinary issues and public relations are handled by the Director. The MBI’s current director is Mark Sulfur. Recommended Firearm: Glock 30
- Captain: This is the top field position of the bureau, and is typically occupied by only one individual per duty shift. The Captain carries out the Director’s policies in practical application. The Captain is also responsible for mission assignments, giving general orders and choosing what types of scenarios to respond to or investigate. The Captain is the leader of the MBI in the field. The MBI’s current captains are Jason Korat and Joseph Forge. Recommended Firearm: Glock 17
- Lieutenant: An infrequent rank between Agent and Captain. Agent McGrath currently holds this rank as an investigator.
- Investigator: This position is occupied by Field Agents certified for detective work. The Investigator is responsible for pursuing criminal leads, conducting undercover work and negotiating with perpetrators. The Investigator reports directly to the Captain, but is permitted limited personnel allocation and some mission autonomy, typically with administrative approval. Recommended Firearm: Glock 30
- Field Agents: Make up the majority of personnel in SWAT Teams, assist investigators in undercover work, and carry out typical facets of law enforcement. These positions are the most common, and have several sub-positions (note: some positions can be occupied more than once and by the same agent). Typical equipment includes bullet-proof vest, MBI uniform variant, telescopic baton, X-Rail taser and communication radio. Recommended Firearm: Glock 17

- Trainee – Newly recruited agents are given a “shake-down” period to evaluate performance and ability. Once the training period has expired, the trainee is evaluated for either promotion to Full Agent or dismissal from the bureau. This is the lowest rank. Required Firearm: Glock 17
- SWAT Member – Reports to either Captain or Investigator for mission parameters. Conducts activities related to sting operations, hostage rescue and entering criminal locales for apprehensions. Recommended Firearm(s): MP5, Glock 17, Remington 870, Stun Grenades
- Sharpshooter – Normally accompanies in SWAT missions for long-range tactical support. Required Firearm(s): M40, Glock 30
- Specialist – Normally accompanies in SWAT missions for various support roles, using any special abilities the Specialist may have to aid in mission objective.
- Pilot – A certified helicopter pilot position is now a part of the MBI response team. Currently the MBI only has one helicopter reserved for special scenarios where air support is required. Recommended Firearm: Glock 30
