Well firstly there's some debate about Chopshop being a hyena. I'd be interested to know what "faction" you think he belongs to and what makes you think he's from an enemy country. Anyway, the answer to who Megakat City's country was fighting in Mega War II is, based on what we see of the Red Lynx, another country of kats who speak with vaguely German accents and are roughly the equivalent to Imperial Germany in World War I.

Well, aside from the fact they repeatedly refer to the Red Lynx as not only evil, but the most evil pilot in history. Manfred von Richtofen AFAIK never had such a bad reputation.
This raises all KINDS of questions about the nature of the war. WHO were they fighting? Red Lynx is a Kat, so not the same faction as that Hyena guy, soo.... who?

Two things I really enjoyed in the episode.

The villain. A ghost seeking revenge who happens to be a pilot.

The Blue Manx Jet. That was a really cool jet design. I wish they brought it back in later episodes.
I recently started pondering what I'd do if I was to write a third season.

I'd start by having the SWAT Kats start working with the Enforcers officially. But also a new version of the Blue Manx that gets used by Felina.

Honestly i like that we find out for the first time that chance is a history buff. I get that this ghost is basically their version of the red baron. I guess it would've been to obvious if red lynx flew a tri plane TboneLaughCait

I still say based on what is established with the Blue Manx, Lynx might be the Red Lynx's real surname, or part of it, anyway.

Clearly the Blue Manx wasn't really that guy's real name, either, but it incorporated his actual surname. Why wouldn't the same hold true for the Red Lynx?
Well based on the personality of Mayor Manx. It kind of makes sense that the Manx family would put their actual name on everything even a code name. Egomaniacs often do that. Just ask the President of the United States BroFistIcon

This episode is mostly responsible for the creation of my oldest SK fan character Alexandria Manx and the sole creation of Hans Lynx seen in Nova Squadron (originally an MBI/SKRPG character). I felt that surely Mayor Manx wasn’t the last of his line, and figured the Red Lynx had descendants too.
I always thought the “Red Lynx” wasn’t really his name. That it was a codename similar to the real person the character is based on the “Red Baron”.
